This project included an addition of approximately 30,000 sf and a renovation of the existing Cornish Hall which is approximately 23,600 sf. The addition contains the Child Care Center on the ground floor, School of Education classroom spaces and the Field Placement office suite on the first floor, as well as the Childhood/Early Childhood offices on the second floor. The renovated second and third floors of Cornish Hall also contain suites and offices for the Foundations of Social Advocacy and Education Leadership. The computer lab is also located on the third floor of the renovated portion of Cornish. Project construction was phased, constructing the Addition in Phase I and renovating Cornish Hall in Phase II. Heating, cooling, and sprinkler systems were provided throughout the addition and renovated areas. New electrical power, lighting, fire alarm, communications, and CCTV systems were also provided.

The scope of work for this project included structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical design, as well as asbestos survey, lead survey, and construction administration. A photovoltaic study and a comprehensive traffic and parking study on campus-owned and City of Cortland streets to assess the flow of traffic and safety measures needed for this building addition. This project was designed with LEED certification equivalency.
