The United States Postal Service purchased a two-story abandoned manufacturing building adjacent to their Mechanicville Postal Office for the purpose of demolishing the structure and expanding the facility’s dock and parking area. Delta’s scope for this project included the performance of a pre-renovation hazardous material assessment of the site followed by the preparation of design documents to address the pre-demolition abatement of the identified hazardous materials including asbestos, PCB ballasts, light tube recycling and CFC reclamation from the buildings HVAC system. Upon completion of abatement activities, a 2nd set of design documents were prepared for the buildings demolition and follow-up site work.
Construction Phase services provided included full-time site representation during hazardous material remediation operations as well as during the actual demolition of the structure due to the close proximity of adjacent occupied residential and postal properties. This project required extensive coordination with both the local and regional USPS Representatives as well as with local Utilities and the Municipality.
