The Corning Children’s Center is a nationally accredited child care program funded in part by Corning, Incorporated. Founded in 1980, the facility can handle up to 194 children between the ages of newborn to 12 years old.This project involved the construction of a new 25,000 square foot, seven million dollar child care facility for Corning, Incorporated. This facility is designed to house classrooms for pre-k, school age, and pre-school children, in addition to toddler and infant rooms. In addition to the classrooms, bathrooms, a central kitchen area, administrative offices, a staff lounge, and utility rooms were also designed. The steel framed building has a combination flat and "butterfly" roof and radiant heating will be provided in the floor of the child care area.

Delta Engineers designed the landscaping to offer a carefree, safe environment for children to play that requires minimal care. Garden beds were designed in the courtyard and entryway for the teachers and their classes to cultivate plants throughout the year. Delta Engineers also designed a wet-pipe sprinkler system that was installed throughout this facility. A HVAC system was designed, incorporating heating hot water boilers, and air handlers with direct expansion cooling coils and natural gas heating with variable air duct system. Lighting, fire alarm, security, telephone and data services were also provided. The environmental aspects of this project included the development of a Storm Water Pollution Prevent Plan (SWPPP), stormwater mitigation, hydrology and sediment and erosion control measures. Site/Civil services were provided for the parking lot, walks and site lighting. Coordination with the Client, NYSEG and the City of Corning was required for the site utility work. Utilities included water, gas, sanitary, storm and electric connections. This project was designed to incorporate LEED certifiable design standards in accordance with USGBC guidelines
