This project involved renovating an 8,000 square foot Dining Hall at Binghamton University. Professional services included architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and structural design. The project scope included renovating the Dining Area, the Servery, and the Cashier / Convenience Store Area.
To brighten up the Dining Area, new lighting, carpet, and wall coverings were proposed as well as adding new tables and chairs. The lighting design and ornamental treatment of columns provided additional light to the space.
Within the Servery, the the serving lines were adjusted and modernized to greatly improve the efficiency of the space. An Ultimate Baja and new pizza area were created as well as pass-thru services. The salad bar was updated to include and under-counter refrigerator. Existing frames on most islands remained but were updated with new laminate faces and Corian countertops. Decorative accents were designed for the wall tile and soffit areas to coordinate with the new signage.
The Cashier area was designed to eliminate a wet bar, relocate a condiment station and include a Convenience Store. Lighting was added that is more accessible to maintain in the two story space.
Overall improvements also included replacing the ceiling tiles, painting, and installing a new public address system with microphones and music. Mechanical, plumbing and electrical services were provided for new equipment.
