This project involved the conversion of the existing Binghamton/Johnson City Joint Sewage Treatment Plant to a Biological Aeration Filtration System. This fifty million dollar project was the third and final phase of a multi-phased project. The existing primary and secondary clarifiers were extensively modified to become two different filter processes.
Additional new structures were constructed to complete the conversion. A total of seven (7) major structures were either constructed or modified for this project. Delta Engineers provided the structural and electrical design for the project. More specifically, the project involved the design and construction of C filter tanks, N filter tanks, DN filter tanks, the Secondary Pumping Station with EQ tank, the Blower Building, a clearwell structure, and a chlorination tank. Also, there were numerous overhead channels and other hydraulic control structures built.
